He tries to remember something…anything, but although he can instantly recall things like walking down a road, eating a hamburger, the bustle of cities and watching movies, the only personal thing he can remember are his name and the fact that he’s sixteen years old. Thomas wakes up in a small box, surrounded by metal walls and movement upward. If I started to do the second and third, I’d give away too much of the ending of the first book and really don’t want to spoil the series for readers or listeners. ![]() I listened to all three books in this trilogy over the course of the summer, but I’m only going to review the first one. It’s been awhile since there was a new audio review! But that doesn’t mean we weren’t listening to some great choices! They have modernized it and made it a little more feminist in the process, exactly my kind of book. ![]() The Princess and the Pizza by Mary Jane and Herb Auch is really a cute retelling of the classic Princess and the Pea. It also shows that believing in your friends has great rewards. Children need to see these images and learn these lessons. This book is great for circle time as it encourages developing patience as well as highlights a male character doing something that is stereotypically female, in a stereotypically female apron. But doughnuts are well worth waiting for. My students and I read it and talked about how hard it is to wait and be patient. Panda by Steve Antony is a precious little book that even the youngest children will love. One thing they all have in common is how much fun they are to read. These picture books about food can serve so many purposes from teaching about healthy eating to learning about other cultures. Even if our menu is different the ritual of mealtime is something we can all relate to. ![]() It’s also a way to learn about cultures different than our own. Do you have a picky eater? What about a future chef? Read full overview Blue is having a hard time moving on. But something eerie is happening in town, leaving the local afterlife unset. I would have loved this story even more if we got more moments from them, prior to the relationship. Luckily, Hamal can see ghosts, leaving Blue free to haunt him to his hearts content. I wanted more build up to their relationship, I wanted to see them bond. The only thing that I didn’t enjoy about this graphic novel was the pacing. ![]() There were some creepy moments as well, of the supernatural variety, and that made me enjoy it even more. I really enjoyed how it was portrayed in this story, both of the main characters were amazing and I loved them together. ![]() This was such a sweet graphic novel! I don’t think I have ever read a romance between a human and a ghost, so that was a first for me. When Blue realises Hamal’s strange ability may be putting him in danger, Blue has to find a way to protect him–even if it means leaving him.
